Q & A - Exercises to Help Get Rid of Gynecomastia

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, Gynecomastia is a very common concern.

QUESTION:

Please don’t take this as rude, but as a former overweight guy I think you will know exactly where I am coming from. I noticed in your earlier pictures on your blog that you had the dreaded “man boobs” (which I have too). What weights or exercises in particular helped you to tone up and slim down in that area?

ANSWER:

As for your question I'll tell you exactly what exercises I have used and that I beleive are good for tightening up that area.  For the chest- Pectoral flye, incline pectoral flye, bench press, decline bench press, incline bench press.

Also, using exercises that target your back will also help stretch the skin and disperse the fat so I will also tell you that lat pull downs, bent over rows, t-bar rows, pull/chin ups, and seated cable rows, will help you see improvement.

I suggest devoting a day to chest and then a day to back instead of doing them both on the same day.  One last note, cardio and being in a caloric defecit in general will burn that fat off like no other!

I recently received a very nice email from a gentleman, thanking me for my posts.  It really means a lot to me to hear from people, especially when tell tell me about the positive results they are seeing.  Those emails are what help keep me going!   His biggest concern was gynecomastia, so I hope this post helps.

  1. Hi Tony,
    Your blogposts are really informative.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your youtube video ... it really got me going.
It's almost a month since I started the weight loss.
I've lost about 13lbs. I'm doing resistance & cardio on alternate days (I'm pretty sure, switching to cardio 6days a week can really speed up the weight loss, but I want it to be slow)
Thanks for taking time and putting up these posts & videos.
    Cheers mate :-)

  2. Hi tony,
I started loosing weight (better eating habit, counting calories etc) but the biggest and depressing problem are my manboobs.. my question is : should i build up muscle mass or define (not sure if this is the right word-im from austria :/ ) muscles? doing more reps with less weight or less reps with a lot weight? and how many sets and reps should i do?

I also started trying the tabata training which consists of doing a exercise 20 sec. , resting 10 seconds and again 20 seconds exercise (in the end you should done that about 8 times = 4 minutes). Is this a good idea for defining muscles?

    Cheers :D

  3. you can go for Gynecomastia , Some men have a condition called gynecomastia, or male breast enlargement. When the size of the male breasts can be reduced through diet, the condition can be treated through liposuction (when the breast enlargement is simply the result of fatty tissue) or breast reduction surgery.
